There is a wealth of evidence to show that relational capability – the ability to initiate and maintain relationships – is vital to healthy development in childhood and adolescence. Relationally capable young people can engage in education, move into and prosper in the workplace, form committed partnerships in which to raise children and engage with public services and civil society. An evidence-based age-appropriate relationship and sex education curriculum can help today’s children and young people manage relationships in different contexts, especially online.
